Here at Guided, you may have noticed we take great pride in being as sustainable and eco-friendly as possible. We work with many amazing clients, but we especially love when we get to collaborate with other companies who are dedicated to making the world a better place. Theo Chocolate’s story is one of our favorites.
If you’ve ever bitten into a Theo Chocolate, you may have experienced the wonderfully delicious unparalleled joy that only a really special chocolate bar can bring. With Theo though, that joy doesn’t end after the first bite. In fact, once you learn of Theo’s mindful production practices, you may find yourself indulging in their chocolate a little more frequently and a little less guilt-free.
Owner of Theo Chocolate, Joe Whinney, founded Theo on passion, connection and sustainability. Theo Chocolate is the first Organic and Fair Trade Fair for Life Bean-to-Bar Chocolate Factory in North America. Not only is Whinney committed to creating exceptional flavors, but he believes in the “the land, the people, the dedication and the interconnected relationships that bind us all”. For Whinney, Theo Chocolate isn’t just a product, but rather a journey from bean to bar.
After spending time working and traveling in Central America and Africa, Whinney experienced the injustices with how the land and cocoa farmers were being exploited and he sought to make a difference. Through the promotion of Fair Trade practices, he built lasting relationships and earned a deep trust with the local farmers. Years later, Whinney’s passion for chocolate, commitment to social responsibility and care for using only the purest ingredients in the most sustainable ways possible resulted in the organic Theo Chocolate we know and love today.
We were thrilled to partner on Theo's on their latest delight, Roasted Cocoa Nibs. These nibs are cocoa beans that have been separated from their shell and roasted to perfection in the Theo Chocolate factory here in Seattle. The nibs are naturally rich in vitamins and minerals and are an excellent source of antioxidants.
Thank you Theo for making the world just a little bit sweeter - pun intended - and for providing us with food we can feel good about!
