ALIENS Box Set for Fright Rags

Fright Rags has built a wildly loyal cult following for it’s horror shirts and apparel.

I’m sure part of their success lies with an unwavering focus on delivering the great designs on high quality, pre-shrunk shirts… but that’s really only part of the story.

Here’s the real deal: Fright Rags has found it’s community because Ben and the crew are true horror fans. They started the business because THEY wanted amazing tees that didn’t just knock off the movie poster. Fright Rags brings the best designs to make cult classics fresh, and they dive deep to feature the best scenes and characters from even the most obscure films.

This is apparel that inspires connection and reminiscence for those in the know, and tons of odd stares from ‘normal’ people.

As one fan put, “The shirt works on both fronts!”

ALIENS Box Set

Fright Rags periodically creates box sets for larger releases and other unique opportunities, but with ALIENS the team wanted to do something truly special.

In addition to building out an entire collection of tees, a baseball tee, socks, a sticker, and lobby cards, they wanted a kick ass limited edition box and tee set that fans would be excited to purchase.

Working with the Fright Rags team was great. They were eager to learn about our capabilities and the technical constraints of manufacturing, and each step led to more exploration and creativity.

“It was like being a kid in a candy store.

We decided to go all out on this one.”

The centerpiece of the box was the iconic Xenomorph alien head emerging from the darkness with a powerful sculpted emboss accented by a shiny spot UV and a hit of holographic foil on the teeth. The result is an image like no other, with relief, texture, a  “glistening" wetness, and ultimately... remarkable realism.

Usually we’d share the technical how-and-why for a project like this, but Fright Rags was so proud of the end result they wrote a worthy technical explanation on their own blog. It’s interesting and instructive, so you should check it out.
