Xerox just announced last week that their new line of industrial printers, the Colorcube 9200series will be free of traditional plastic cartridges. Instead, solid ink cubes will take their place.  The elimination of the "disposable" cartridge reduces waste by 90%.  Xerox's solid ink cubes come in recyclable packaging and there are no cartridges to recycle or refill.

The printer/copier industry is making great strides from recycling programs to refilling old cartridges.  Hats off to Xerox for eliminating them all together.
